Job Title: Consultant – Ministry of External Affairs
Location: Headquarters, New Delhi
Position Overview
The Ministry of External Affairs is seeking qualified professionals to join as Consultants in the Policy Planning and Research (PP&R) Division. This dynamic role involves contributing to India’s foreign policy framework through research, analysis, and knowledge dissemination.
Duration of Engagement
- Initial tenure: 1 year (extendable based on performance and mutual agreement).
- Termination: One month’s notice or payment of one month’s salary in lieu thereof.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a domain expert in International Relations and Policy.
- Prepare briefs, reports, and analyses on historical and current geopolitical, geoeconomic, and geostrategic trends.
- Summarize and analyze academic publications and media material relevant to foreign policy.
- Attend key seminars/conferences and submit detailed reports.
- Conduct research on specific foreign policy issues and draft related documents.
- Develop speeches, statements, and presentations for policy matters.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development among Ministry staff.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Division Head.
Work Location
Ministry offices at South Block, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, Patiala House, ISIL Building, or Akbar Bhavan, New Delhi.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications:
- Indian nationality.
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in International Relations, Political Science, or International Law from a recognized university.
- Age: 23–35 years as of the application deadline.
- Candidates with doctoral research in relevant fields will have an advantage.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Evidence of content writing or publications in reputed journals, newspapers, or media.
- Work experience in academic institutions, think tanks, or research organizations in International Affairs, Public Policy, or International Law.
- Strong writing and presentation skills.
- Previous experience in the Ministry of External Affairs.
- Proficiency in foreign languages will be an added advantage.

Remuneration and Benefits
- Competitive package up to ₹10 lakh per annum (subject to applicable taxes).
- No additional benefits like Provident Fund, Gratuity, or Medical Allowances.
- Leave: 1.5 days per completed month of service (unspent leave will lapse annually).
- Full-time engagement (0900–1730 hrs, Monday to Friday).
